After one last Cove swim to the buoys Monday morning and coffee and muffins from Pannikin, we left San Diego and hit the road for Orange County. Just a day before, Huntington Beach lifeguards closed Sunset Beach due to shark sightings. The coast was clear by the time we got there and body surfed a few good waves before lunch.
From OC we headed to Venice Beach in LA and rented bikes to cruise up to Santa Monica Pier and back. Seen in the parking lot: a shark fisherman’s car adorned with jaws art. For dinner we went to Benito’s taqueria on Santa Monica Blvd for the best burritos and rolled tacos before heading north to Malibu.
