Got to Go South to See North

My grandpa Dan and Tiny Gram lived in San Francisco and had a friend named North who lived in Los Angeles. They liked to joke that “You’ve got to go South to see North.” That’s pretty much the thinking behind this road trip itinerary. Having friends in San Diego, we had to first go south before heading north. My college roommate Steve drove down from the San Gabriel Valley to meet us in Orange County, after we left LA County. Had a tasty lunch on the patio at Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen in downtown Brea. Next time we’ll try the nearby Lillie’s Q for their moonshine cocktails and barbecued brisket. We hit the road long before happy hour and rush hour but southbound traffic was heavy from the OC to SD.
